Rock-a-sonics
Rock-a-sonics
The Rock-A-Sonics are a rockabilly band from the Washington, DC/Maryland area. They first got together intending to play a single show -a Buddy Holly tribute in early 2014. But things went so well they decided to become a band and The Rock-A-Sonics were formed. The rhythm section, upright bassist Louie Newmyer and drummer Tom Bowes, had played together for years in various bands including The Peashooters and J.P. McDermott & Western Bop. Looking for talent for their annual Buddy Holly show, Louie and Tom had heard about a gifted "rockabilly kid" outside of Frederick, Maryland and eventually tracked down nineteen year old singer/guitarist, Willie Barry. Willie, who had already been performing for several years around Frederick, agreed to sing on the show. Eric Hurtt was recruited next on lead guitar. Eric excels in the Grady Martin/Scotty Moore style of guitar pickin'. At rehearsals, Willie surprised his more seasoned bandmates with his knowledge of all things Elvis. Not only did he know every Elvis song and own all of his movies, but he could tell you who played on each recording. They bonded instantly and their common enthusiasm for rockabilly, country and early rock 'n' roll was strong and seamless. The Rock-A-Sonics were born and eager to do more.

In short order, the Rock-A-Sonics have been getting bigger and better shows and turning heads whenever they perform.
They are currently recording at Vinylux studio and hope to have something out soon.

Three part harmony vocals augmented by baritone banjo uke, searing electric guitar solos, backed by a unique rhythm section consisting of hollowbody electric, upright bass, and cocktail drums. Trumpet and baritone saxophone round out the mix, with the occasional fiddle. The band's music is a blend of modern and vintage sounds and styles, and their show is a high energy, raucous experience that has been wowing audiences at every festival, and venue they've played
