Practically Einstein
Practically Einstein
A staple on the DC scene for years, Practically Einstein has toured everywhere from New York to New Orleans, as well as throughout parts of Europe, with regular stops in Finland, Denmark and the Czech Republic. This summer will see stops in DC/MD/VA as well as North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Dewey Beach, Delaware. Then, back to Germany and Finland in early fall.

PE recently released the EP "Love + Hate" at the Rock & Roll Hotel in Washington, DC. Produced with Jim Ebert (Ice Cube, Butch Walker, Everclear, Cowboy Mouth) at Cue Studios , the EP is a anticipated collection of songs about the opposing forces that can come to a boil in the heart and mind. From the devil-may-care spirit of the single “Massive in Japan”, to the dark passion of “When the World Explodes”, the songs exhibit a range of influences, much from the alt-rock heyday of the ‘90’s (Catherine Wheel, Buffalo Tom, Sugar, Del Amitri, Matthew Sweet, Supergrass, Soul Asylum, Pearl Jam, Guided by Voices), and spiked with doses of Britpop, Americana and soul.

PE mixes in a highly eclectic mix of covers, including MGMT, Franz Ferdinand, Hall & Oates, Wheatus, Kings of Leon, the Strokes, Green Day, the Ramones, and Nirvana. The guys rarely follow a set list, but make sure to keep the energy high, and the rock and roll authentic. So make a request, and we'll see you at the bar!

The Silent Critics
On any given weekend you can find The Silent Critics where they love to be, on stage and playing at a bar or music venue in the Northern Virginia/DC area. In their many years together they have transitioned from their music classes at Mary Washington College to shooting their first music video. “Dissonance”, directed by Vanessa Jorquera, was shot in Harlem and New York City earlier this year and is one of the many things they can add to their already impressive resume.

Aside from songwriting awards and winning silver in the rock/alternative category of the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest for the song Dissonance, The Silent Critics have shared the stage with Pat McGee, Trace Bundy, Quick Step John, Bravo Romeo Bravo, Just Like Always, Citizen*, Juniper Lane, Honor By August, McClaw’s Drive, Fools and Horses, The Blackjacks and many other talented artists.

The founding members of The Silent Critics, Ryan Coughter and Liam Garland met at college their freshman year. For a class project, Ryan, who had been playing guitar since he was a kid, wrote two songs. He asked Liam to sing the songs with him in class and after receiving great reviews they decided to start playing together at local bars in Fredericksburg, VA. With the help of family, great friends and many bars TSC soon had a following. This led to their first demo CD "The After Party" and eventually their self-titled full band demo. The Silent Critics first full-length album was recorded with long time friend and producer, Jeff Covert, of Wally Cleaver's Studio in Fredericksburg, VA. The record will be completed in early 2011 and will include, among others, their silver medal winning song Dissonance, The Perfect Dance, and Disclosure which both won honorable mention the same year (2009).
