Blair Crimmins & The Hookers
Blair Crimmins & The Hookers
Blair Crimmins began his current music career in Atlanta, Georgia, with a determination to bring Ragtime and 1920’s style Dixieland Jazz to new audiences. While playing small rock clubs around the Southeast he developed a sound that is at once modern while being deeply rooted in the past. Now five years and many hundreds of shows later, he has toured the country playing large venues and has opened for national acts such as Mumford & Sons, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and O.A.R. A multi-instrumentalist and music academic, Crimmins writes songs and arrangements for a classic New Orleans style horn section consisting of Trumpet, Clarinet, Trombone.
Tornado Rose
Tornado Rose
The name Tornado Rose perfectly suits the sound created by this amazing band--a sexy, upbeat combination of rockabilly, indie, and folk. The singer's voice shines with a crystalline power and clarity, backed by a fast drum kit and silky-smooth blues guitar. "80 Acres" is filled with delicious lyrics pulling from old Americana and Anglo-Celtic ballads, with mockingbirds, cottonwoods, the Devil, and a deep connection to land (here, the 80 acres). The song speaks of weariness and determination in equal measure; revealing some of the true spirit of the American midwest.
