Danger Bird is the Mid-Atlantic’s premier Neil Young tribute band. Launched in 2016, Danger Bird has been packing venues and thrilling audiences ever since their very first performance. Comprising five seasoned veterans of the DMV (DC, MD, VA) live music scene, their experience and professionalism ensure consistently excellent and entertaining shows. Drawing from Neil’s acoustic days in the Toronto folk scene, through the golden sound of the Buffalo Springfield in L.A., the proto-grunge of Crazy Horse, the shimmering vocals of CSNY, the country roots of The Stray Gators and The International Harvesters, all the way to the raw energy of The Promise of the Real, Danger Bird digs deep into the catalog of one of the greatest songwriters ever. They take their audience on a “Journey Through the Past”, spinning the story of Neil Young and his music. Their vocal harmonies and faithful arrangements will have you believing you are hearing the great man himself.

The Minks are Nashville’s “psychedelic-blues” band, heavy on the rock and roll. We’re talking low-down, all the way, purse-lipped, eyes-shut, head-whirling kind of groove. In 2015, on a search for creative community, Nikki Barber started the band based on the idea that “if you don’t create, you’ll combust”. Just like a rock and roll circus, you never know what you’re going to get, but you know it’ll be good. The band’s palpable sound has roots in every music fan’s top ten—from Lou to Patti to Creedence to Hank – but blends them into something totally original and current. Mixed with raw, jangly instrumentation and soulful saccharine vocals, it’s as much a throwback as it is an answer to the often overlooked underbelly of Nashville’s rock and roll scene. Look for them, on tour forever, spreading the gospel of letting your hair down and having a good time.

It’s hard to stay still around these boys. They’ve got that toe-tapping, knee-slapping, boot-stomping kind of sound. They get you moving and shaking. Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle—part rowdy honkytonk, part old-time pioneers—equates to a sound that sticks with your soul and leaves you singing barefoot into the star sky.

They pull from all sorts of genres—from Lead Belly to John Prine, from Woody Guthrie to Willy Tea Taylor —to create something unique and deep-rooted. These guys lean into the rhythms of the Ohio River Valley—where they’ve walked upon—and look to the songs in the muddy water and the tradition it carries.

To get “hustled” is to get the full-body musical experience—that head-boppin’, hip-swaying, soul-singing with the stranger next to you. It’s the kind of music that encapsulates you into a community of sound, one that becomes familiar once you hear it, like maybe, you’ve been listening to them forever.

Shakin’ Woods is an American Blues band founded in 2019 in the Washington, DC metro area.  The group began as an offshoot of Rich Russman’s debut solo CD,

First In Line.  Fellow founding member Paul Dudley, a veteran of the DC music scene, collaborated with Russman to craft a modern Blues project with the goal of writing, recording, and touring. Following a regular schedule of experimenting for several months with different ideas, the band added George Belton on bass and Austin Day on keyboards/guitar to complete the lineup.

The group has recorded 12 songs, released as 3 4-song EPs throughout 2020 and 2021.  Produced and tracked at Rich’s Bradshaw studios in Virginia, the band welcomed a great opportunity to hire industry giants Jack Douglas and Jay Messina for mixing and mastering.

The engine of the group is driven by Paul’s steady, yet energetic beats, coupled with George’s swampy, soulful basslines.  The guitars, provided by Rich and Austin, bring elements of Southern Rock and old-school Delta Blues.  Day also takes on added duties with exceptional keyboard work.   The members take turns at lead vocals, creating a nice mix of raw energy and haunting soul.
