Emma G. is an award-winning musician, author, and youth empowerment coach, I have had a lifelong battle with a rare neurological condition called hydrocephalus, so I understand trauma. I’ve been able to use music to recover from multiple traumas, including ten brain surgeries, by writing and singing my truth, sharing my experiences, and turning my lessons into blessings. I have a unique style that marries the styles of pop, soulful ballads, and a gritty rock edge.

I’m now on a mission to save the world one song at a time, not just through my own music, but also by coaching teenagers to channel their voices and struggles through the powerful tool of songwriting. We all experience trauma, but songwriting is an effective tool to not simply communicate your teenagers’ struggles, but to identify key issues, simplify overwhelm, find the right languaging to communicate their thoughts, and present their learnings, feelings and overwhelm in a way that is non-confrontational, authentic, and creative. Youth Empowerment through Songwriting coaching is the perfect way I combine my background as a teacher, lecturer, YMCA youth coordinator and – of course – a singer/songwriter.

Music is an incredibly effective tool for alchemy: helping audiences and teen songwriters alike overcome struggles, trauma, stress and overwhelm with songs of overcoming, resilience, self-love and stepping into one’s power.

Showtime 11:30pm

The Plate Scrapers originated in 2014 in western Maryland the way any good bluegrass band does: from a bunch of fellers pickin’ around in a circle, surrounded by delicious plates of food, strong libations, and good friends. The traditional spirit of The Plate Scrapers is still innately intact nearly half a decade later, though they have evolved into far more than your average bluegrass band. Through diverse backgrounds and influences ranging from jazz, to hard rock, to funk, the band has taken their music to an eclectic new level.

The Plate Scrapers’ songwriting is the identifying characteristic of the band. Complimenting writing styles from multiple members offer a tasteful balance and refreshing diversity to their sound, a diversity which they have become known for. Folksy lyrics of songs like “Shoes” or “Moonlight” call to a time of friendship, nostalgia and adventure, while songs like “Trucker’s Aspirin” or “Easy Way Out” are darker tales, gritty in nature.

Crafted musicianship and creative chemistry on stage guarantees that each performance is a new experience. More recently, the band has been known to take advantage of modern FX to enhance their traditional folk instruments, venturing over the borders of traditional Bluegrass into the rapidly growing genre of Jamgrass. Fans and critics alike agree that things are moving in a promising direction for The Plate Scrapers.  The Plate Scrapers released their newest studio album Destination Horizon in the summer of 2020 with rave reviews.  It debuted at #9 on the Bluegrass Billboard charts and has been their most successful release to date.

As classic as cast iron, as space-age as a flying car — The Plate Scrapers are serving up their own flavor of bluegrass by way of a winding wormhole through folk, jazz, and heavy metal dimensions. So grab yourself a thick slice of nostalgia, slap on a side of mind-bending originality, and top it off with some piping-hit pickin’, and let this hungry bunch “take you out of this atmosphere.

As previously announced, the record will be released via Bonfire Music Group, who will handle marketing and distribution. Fans can download the haunting ballad HERE.

“‘Many Moons Ago’ took years to get the recording stages just right,” says Burns. “I couldn’t have been happier to work with the brilliant and talented Sarah Jarosz on this track. I was delighted and grateful to have her lend her veracity.”

“Many Moons Ago” picks up right where Burns’ critically-acclaimed debut North Country left off. With its edgy production and haunting melodies, the single is a perfect fit for fall, as the seasons begin to change. The singer took his musical talents to new highs, serving as the writer for the song, along with producing the recording at Galt Line Studio in Nashville, Tenn. Burns burst onto the national scene with the release of his early 2019 debut album North Country. Two decades before releasing the project, Burns kicked off his career as a traveling Folk singer, logging shows on both sides of the Atlantic. He’s been on the road ever since, sharpening a sound that mixes the folk traditions of his native Ireland with diverse American influences. The collection turned many heads, securing praise and coverage in top publications like Rolling Stone, CMT, American Songwriter, Billboard, No Depression and more. The High & Wides project a big, driving sound—mountain musical traditions re-imagined for a new century. Formed on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in 2015 and with roots in both urban Baltimore and the rural Delmarva peninsula, they write music about arson and hourly motels, dystopian love songs, and ballads of violent history. The band draws on their backgrounds in bluegrass and weaves in influences from new wave to old time to make music that defies boundaries while evoking the era when country, western swing, and early rock’n’roll coexisted under the label “hillbilly music”.

Both 2018’s album “Lifted” and 2019’s “Seven True Stories” were greeted with critical acclaim and debuted in the Billboard Top 10 Bluegrass Album sales chart, and a third full-length album is on the way later in 2021..

Members are Marc Dykeman (guitar, vocals), Sam Guthridge (banjo, mandolin, vocals), Nate Grower (fiddle), and Mike Buccino (bass).

Justin Suede is a six string slingin’ wanderer who’s sure of where he’s headed and searching for the way. His lifelong quest to find himself as an artist brought him to Nashville in 2018.

When he wasn’t playing downtown or featuring at a festival, he was crafting his original work through the long hours of the night. Heavy, dark, and whiskey aged stories – belted with conviction through the voice of a weathered soul.

Shortly after receiving a recording contract for his debut EP, Justin moved to Alexandria, Virginia in 2021, where he currently resides when he’s not on the road.

Justin has played at a number of high profile venues and events across the Eastern United States, sharing the evening with artists like Garth Brooks, Erich Church, Kenny Chesney, Old Dominion, Granger Smith, and more.

Music, which has always been a crucial part of Timbers’s life, was more important than ever. The son of a local Gospel singer, Timbers found his passion for music where most great musicians find theirs–in church. At the age of 9, Timbers picked up the guitar and never looked back.

While attending university with the intention of becoming a veterinarian, Timbers decided to pause his education to take his love of music more seriously. In 1994 he formed the Virginia-based blues band, Less Traveled, with himself as the frontman and lead songwriter. The band found success with their self-produced album Nobody, which developed their following and led to multiple touring opportunities. After sharing the stage with acts such as Agents of Good Roots, Merl Saunders (Jerry Garcia Band), and Tim Reynolds (Dave Matthews Band and TR3), Timbers began to gain recognition as a songwriter and landed an endorsement with Canadian manufacturing company Godin Guitars.

After many years with Less Traveled, Timbers decided to strike out on his own and move to New York City. While in “the City That Never Sleeps”, Timbers continued to work on his unique style and technique while becoming a standout favorite in the Brooklyn music scene.

After a run into legal troubles, Timbers had to halt his accelerating career and spend some years away in a federal detention facility. This time allowed him to realize his need for self-reinvention, focusing on the positive in life while using his past to propel him forward.

Timbers returned to Virginia with a renewed sense of purpose and direction. After reconnecting with bass player Mike Echols, whom Timbers credits for a huge part of his newfound success, the singer/songwriter decided to form the Chris Timbers Band.

Together with Echols on bass and vocals, drummer Paul Dudley, saxophonist Eli Gonzalez, and lead guitarist Peter Thomas, Chris Timbers Band represents a style of music that’s a combination of country, contemporary jazz, blues, rock and “alternative soul.” Together they continue to revamp old songs while writing and recording new ones.

Timbers’s first solo album, Keep Moving, is a journey through his heart and soul. From the title track that speaks of reconnecting with old friends after being away, to songs like “War” which provide insight into his views on politics and the current state of the world, the album showcases Timbers’s diverse writing styles. His fans will hear rock undertones combined with a delicate mixture of R&B, country, and jazz and blues influences…and they’ll be glad to hear from him again.

The Pinkerton Raid‘s Jesse James DeConto grew up in New England, with Dad’s guitar and Mom’s radio tuned to Soulsville, the Village, Liverpool and Laurel Canyon. Those inheritances mingle with foothills-folk in Durham, N.C., yielding songs Americana UK calls “anthemic.” Critics hear influences from Neil Young to The National. “You won’t be able to stop humming,” said No Depression. The Pinkerton Raid has played with Illiterate Light, Ballroom Thieves, Lowland Hum and Noah Gundersen. Back-to-back releases in 2017 & 2018 brought them from Charleston to Chicago to Brattleboro, Vt., with slots at EnoFest, Shakori Hills and Daytrotter and acclaim from Paste, Popdose, Aquarian Weekly and more. In 2020-2021, the band has been releasing a series of indie-rock singles. American Songwriter called “Dream the Sun” a “radiant … message of hope.” Glide Magazine said “Rebel Mama Blues” “purrs with the garage rock swagger of The White Stripes and the irritated kick of Cage the Elephant,” while The Big Takover called it “a blast of zeitgeist-capturing political garage-psych … Bowie-meets-Black Keys.” Their fifth full-length album is due out in 2022.
