The Ken Demith Collection was established in 2006 when Ken left the popular DFW zydebilly band the Comelongs. Leveraging connections made at venues and among many talented musicians in DFW, Ken invited Sean McWilliams of Pickle and Jeff Gruber of Sunday Drive to join him for shows.  Ken invited different players when Sean and Jeff weren’t available and the idea of a “collection” of supporting band members was born.  Sean and Jeff continued to be part of the collection for recording when Ken moved to Maryland in 2013.

Not knowing the music scene in the Maryland, Ken made the decision to focus mostly on recording.  He began the production of the Boom A Rang album. As the record was nearing completion, Ken began searching for the right players to join the KDC.  Ken first found Peter Franklin playing on drums several tracks on the Boom A Rang album.  Later adding bassist Bruce Lipson and keyboardist Dave Fenstermacher for live performances.

Into the Fog:Winston started playing guitar at 14, learning from his father who played country, folk, and rock n roll music. He was a skilled guitarist, singer, songwriter, and pedal steel player, as well as Winstons heaviest influence musically. Playing mostly electric guitar until his mid-20s, Winston then found a love for bluegrass music and the raw nature of acoustic instruments. He began teaching himself to play mandolin and dobro simultaneously developing a unique guitar-rooted style to both. His playing is somewhere between washed in blues and making friends with the unloved notes, all while treating the song with the utmost respect.

Danger Bird is the Mid-Atlantic’s premier Neil Young tribute band. Launched in 2016, Danger Bird has been packing venues and thrilling audiences ever since their very first performance. Comprising five seasoned veterans of the DMV (DC, MD, VA) live music scene, their experience and professionalism ensure consistently excellent and entertaining shows. Drawing from Neil’s acoustic days in the Toronto folk scene, through the golden sound of the Buffalo Springfield in L.A., the proto-grunge of Crazy Horse, the shimmering vocals of CSNY, the country roots of The Stray Gators and The International Harvesters, all the way to the raw energy of The Promise of the Real, Danger Bird digs deep into the catalog of one of the greatest songwriters ever. They take their audience on a “Journey Through the Past”, spinning the story of Neil Young and his music. Their vocal harmonies and faithful arrangements will have you believing you are hearing the great man himself.
