Melissa Carper w/ Olivia Ellen Lloyd

Its been said that not all who wander are lost. Some of our greatest treasures have come from wandering hearts, those who are not afraid to take risks and experience what our world has to offer. On March 19th, singer/songwriter, upright bassist, and lifelong wayfarer Melissa Carper unveiled her new solo effort, Daddys Country Gold. This shimmering 12 song collection of original gems about love and a desire for the simple life mixes melancholy and humor and creates an irresistible pull between laughter and heartache. Having been compared by her listeners to a bluegrass Billie Holiday and a country Janis Joplin, Carpers distinct and pure voice has reached a new strength and maturity in Daddys Country Gold.

Waylon Payne w/ John Hart

A son of country music royalty, a teenaged Baptist preacher turned addict and actor, Payne sings about fathers and sons, faith and addiction, recovery and renewal with devastating clarity. His character-rich collection harks back to a way of telling stories in song that revealed kept secrets and promised mystery. Over his years, Payne has felt the terrible power secrets can hold and learned the transformative value of releasing them. Finally, hes in a place where he can harness that power to create transcendent work. Payne recorded Blue Eyes, The Harlot, The Queer, The Pusher & Me primarily at Southern Ground Nashville, a converted century-old church building just off Music Row that once housed Monument Studios. Paynes mother, country singer Sammi Smith, cut her iconic version of Kris Kristoffersons Help Me Make It Through the Night at Monument. When Payne recorded his vocals, he says, I stood in the same spot she stood and sang while she was pregnant with me.

Winners of the 2021 MerleFest Band Competition, Into The Fog is a genre-jumping string band based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. With its members having various backgrounds ranging from bluegrass, country, rock, to funk, Into The Fog creates a musical melting pot of sounds in an acoustic/newgrass setting. The band is made up of Brian Stephenson(Guitar, Vocals), Winston Mitchell(Mandolin, Vocals), Derek Lane(Bass, Vocals) and Will Maxwell(Fiddle, Vocals).

Originally formed in Wilmington, NC, Into The Fog immediately hit the ground running as a band by heading across the country to compete at the 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition only a few months after coming together. That cross country trip was recorded by friend of the band and videographer Mason Godwin in his documentary Band #7:The Ride to Telluride.

After the Telluride trip, the band got to work playing as much as they could around North Carolina. Becoming a mainstay at over 30 different breweries around the state Into The Fog started to quickly make a name for themselves. Then in November of 2018 the band went to a cabin outside of Waynesville, NC and spent a week recording their debut album Wishin’ It Would Rain, which was released on February 22, 2019.
“The trio crafts a dynamic mix of songs and sounds, from the gypsy feel of “Caawphonation” to the running-from-Johnny-Law feel of instrumental “Cedar Island Rendezvous.”- Brian Tucker(Star News)

With their debut album under their belt Into The Fog started to pick up momentum exchanging brewery gigs for music venues and festivals with opportunities like playing Shakori Hills, Groove in the Garden, FloydFest, MerleFest, and the NC Homegrown Music Festival along with opening slots for national touring acts Sam Bush, Ghost of Paul Revere, and Jon Stickley Trio. Into The Fog solidified their sound further with their 14 track sophomore album Runnin’ Blind and Chasin’ Time which was released in May of 2021.
“While purists might label label their sound as Newgrass, those in attendance respond to the gospel they are preaching and seem perfectly content with the foggy genre, since the sound is so clear”- Donna Davis(The Daily Reflector)

Mackenzie Ryan – Mack is a committed, driven artist whose talents are rivaled only by her passion for and love of music.

A professionally trained vocalist, self-taught multi-instrumentalist and burgeoning producer, Mack utilizes her uniquely powerful voice to perform a wide variety of classic and contemporary musical selections in a way that is at once subtly nuanced and refreshingly vibrant. Part rock ‘n’ roll, a little country, some funk, a touch of soul and all heart, Mack’s music is as perfectly suited for bars and wineries as it is for the big stage.

Her acoustic solo set is filled with a diverse mix of sing-along songs from Van Morrison and Creedence Clearwater Revival to Smokey Robinson and The Lumineers. Her band, currently unnamed, is an eclectic group of talented musicians with a wide-ranging, distinctively energetic sound.

She takes creative inspiration from Etta James, Frank Ocean and The Rolling Stones and credits Stevie Nicks and Led Zeppelin for her musical motivation. She is currently working on her first EP.

Buffalo Wabs & the Price Hill Hustle w/ Hollertown

Its hard to stay still around these boys. They got that toe-tapping, knee-slapping, boot-stomping kind of sound. They get you moving and shaking. Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle are part rowdy honkytonk, part old-time pioneers that equates to a sound that sticks with your soul and leaves you singing barefoot into the star sky. They pull from all sorts of genres, from Lead Belly to John Prine, from Woody Guthrie to Willy Tea Taylor to create something unique and deep-rooted. These guys lean into the rhythms of the Ohio River Valley, where they have walked upon and look to the songs in the muddy water and the tradition it carries.

Laura’s 40+ songs and 5 records span the genres of folk, Americana, alt-country, blues, rock and pop.

Her latest release, a six-song record called Quiet Corners has garnered 75k streams on Spotify in just three months.
