F.A.M. & PSW: Shannon McNally w/ Probably Whiskey + Justin Suede

Thom Jurek at All Music said it best,Only Gram Parsons term Cosmic American Music begins to touch her mercurial, changeling roots aesthetic, McNally is a Zen-like, post-Beat song poet. For those who have followed McNallys nearly twenty year career the thing that most sticks with the listener about her, is the timeless effortlessness that she brings to all she does. With a long catalog and longer list of peers with whom she has written, recorded and toured, McNally continues to turn out great music that defies blatant genre-fication.At home across the American (Americana) music spectrum, the Grammy nominee whos live music career began on the jam band circuit of the 1990s with bands like Robert Randolph and Derek Trucks, writes as well as she interprets the songs of others, has a top tier musicality to her craft,a soul stirring voice that immediately grabs one by the heart strings and a troubadours wanderlust, not to mention as it turns out, she is also an excellent electric guitar player

Music, which has always been a crucial part of Timbers’s life, was more important than ever. The son of a local Gospel singer, Timbers found his passion for music where most great musicians find theirs–in church. At the age of 9, Timbers picked up the guitar and never looked back.

While attending university with the intention of becoming a veterinarian, Timbers decided to pause his education to take his love of music more seriously. In 1994 he formed the Virginia-based blues band, Less Traveled, with himself as the frontman and lead songwriter. The band found success with their self-produced album Nobody, which developed their following and led to multiple touring opportunities. After sharing the stage with acts such as Agents of Good Roots, Merl Saunders (Jerry Garcia Band), and Tim Reynolds (Dave Matthews Band and TR3), Timbers began to gain recognition as a songwriter and landed an endorsement with Canadian manufacturing company Godin Guitars.

After many years with Less Traveled, Timbers decided to strike out on his own and move to New York City. While in “the City That Never Sleeps”, Timbers continued to work on his unique style and technique while becoming a standout favorite in the Brooklyn music scene.

After a run into legal troubles, Timbers had to halt his accelerating career and spend some years away in a federal detention facility. This time allowed him to realize his need for self-reinvention, focusing on the positive in life while using his past to propel him forward.

Timbers returned to Virginia with a renewed sense of purpose and direction. After reconnecting with bass player Mike Echols, whom Timbers credits for a huge part of his newfound success, the singer/songwriter decided to form the Chris Timbers Band.

Together with Echols on bass and vocals, drummer Paul Dudley, saxophonist Eli Gonzalez, and lead guitarist Peter Thomas, Chris Timbers Band represents a style of music that’s a combination of country, contemporary jazz, blues, rock and “alternative soul.” Together they continue to revamp old songs while writing and recording new ones.

Timbers’s first solo album, Keep Moving, is a journey through his heart and soul. From the title track that speaks of reconnecting with old friends after being away, to songs like “War” which provide insight into his views on politics and the current state of the world, the album showcases Timbers’s diverse writing styles. His fans will hear rock undertones combined with a delicate mixture of R&B, country, and jazz and blues influences…and they’ll be glad to hear from him again.

Jacob Jolliff Band (Yonder Mountain String Band) w/ The Moonlight Duo

Jacob Jolliff was born into a musical family in Newberg, OR. His dad started him on the mandolin at age seven and required him to practice ten minutes a day. But after six months of practicing this minimal amount, something clicked, and almost overnight he started putting in several hours of intense practice daily. And this hasn’t really changed in the last 20 years. Now in 2021, the mandolinists main focus is The Jacob Jolliff Band. This ensemble is a group of virtuoso pickers that play Jacobs original instrumentals, as well as showcase his singing. They tour nationally in the US and have also traveled to Scotland and Australia to perform. Over the years, Jacob has had pleasure of sharing the stage with many legendary musicians spanning many genres including Darol Anger, Tony Trischka, Sam Bush, Ronnie McCoury, Jerry Douglas, Bryan Bowers, John Popper, The David Grisman Quintet, Widespread Panic, The String Cheese Incident, Michael Daves, and many more.

Miss Tess w/ Calista Garcia

Miss Tess has always been known for creating an eclectic array of vintage blues, country, and jazz sounds. Currently residing in Nashville, she finds no shortage of inspiration in the roots scene there. However varied Tess music can be, front and center sits her voice that has been described as alternately seductive and sexy, and a pure joy to listen to (Pop Matters). Her music is further heightened by her partner, Thomas Bryan Eaton, who helps to shape the songs and arrangements with a deft touch on guitar & pedal steel. No slouch herself, Tess brings along her Weymann archtop guitar, often trading leads with Thomas. This past winter the two teamed up with veteran producer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff) at his studio in East Nashville to create a new record that both reaches back to Tess roots, yet also signals a new chapter in her career. The record, to be titled The Moon is an Ashtray, is getting its finishing touches and will be released Feb 7.

Drew Gibson writes big songs that you can hold in the palm of your hand”
– THE WASHINGTON POST
Gibson‘s style is so gorgeously unique that the only direct comparison I could make is to Gibson.”
– CHATTANOOGA PULSE
“1532 is an album that should be considered among the finest of 2015.
– NO DEPRESSION
“1532 is the type of album that’s clearly in a different league… one that would make most artists spend the rest of their career in the dark due to the large shadow it casts.”
– RVA MAGAZINE
“His Lyrics carry the mixed poeticism of gesture and definition, moods wherein you know exactly what he’s writing as you reach for more, never to quite quench curiosity ‘cause that’s exactly what good poetry is supposed to evoke.  More, the guy plays a damn fine guitar.”
– FOLK ACOUSTIC MUSIC EXCHANGE
” …stunning… reminiscent of Justin Townes Earle.”
– THE WASHINGTON POST
“…a deft blend of folk, blues, and indie sounds that should sit in any alt-country fan’s music collection, rightly taking its place alongside bands like Wilco and Ryan Adams.”
– ON TAP MAGAZINE
“A Minor 7th dream. An independent release deserving mainstream attention. An artist with enormous writing, picking, and vocal chops.”
– MINOR 7th

“Virginia singer/songwriter’s album starts off with a bang — three strong originals (one of which reminds me of vintage Mark Knopfler)…it’s well worth checking out.”
– USA TODAY
