The Way Down Wanderers sing like angels but write songs with guts that are unmistakably earthbound: a soon-to-be dad, excited but scared, fighting for self-growth; someone recovering from alcohol dependency, devoted to healing but with a confession to make––there are no fairytales here. And yet, the music begs an unapologetically Pollyanna question, like a big-hearted dare: Can a song help save you?

“I think when we strive to be the best versions of ourselves, and to accept other people that we don’t understand, that all works toward creating a culture we strive for,” says Collin Krause, one of The Way Down Wanderers’ two lead songwriters and vocalists. “Part of that process really is working on yourself––and self-forgiveness. At the end of the day, we’re not going to be perfect. The idea is to recognize that, and to try to forgive yourself if you can––and to try to move on and make progress

It’s hard to stay still around these boys. They’ve got that toe-tapping, knee-slapping, boot-stomping kind of sound. They get you moving and shaking. Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle—part rowdy honkytonk, part old-time pioneers—equates to a sound that sticks with your soul and leaves you singing barefoot into the star sky.

They pull from all sorts of genres—from Lead Belly to John Prine, from Woody Guthrie to Willy Tea Taylor —to create something unique and deep-rooted. These guys lean into the rhythms of the Ohio River Valley—where they’ve walked upon—and look to the songs in the muddy water and the tradition it carries.

To get “hustled” is to get the full-body musical experience—that head-boppin’, hip-swaying, soul-singing with the stranger next to you. It’s the kind of music that encapsulates you into a community of sound, one that becomes familiar once you hear it, like maybe, you’ve been listening to them forever.

Since 2014, Eleanor Buckland has been one-third of Lula Wiles, the Boston-based folk-rock trio that has become an acoustic music scene favorite with their three critically hailed albums. For much of this time, however, Buckland was also working on another musical project – her own album. You Don’t Have To Know (due on October 29) spotlights a different side of Buckland’s musical interests as it sets her deeply personal songs against inventive indie rock arrangements. Buckland didn’t know she was headed to making a solo album when she started writing the songs found on You Don’t Have To Know. Initially, she was thrilled simply having the freedom to get creative and write for herself. Although she thought about recording the tunes, the idea arose from a suggestion by Adam Iredale-Gray, a friend of Buckland’s (and her Lula Wiles bandmates Mali Obomsawin and Isa Burke) at Berklee College of Music and producer of the trio’s self-titled first album. While recording that album, Buckland and Iredale-Gray noticed, as she explains it, “a magical spark of synchronicity in our creative processes.”

Music, which has always been a crucial part of Timbers’s life, was more important than ever. The son of a local Gospel singer, Timbers found his passion for music where most great musicians find theirs–in church. At the age of 9, Timbers picked up the guitar and never looked back.

While attending university with the intention of becoming a veterinarian, Timbers decided to pause his education to take his love of music more seriously. In 1994 he formed the Virginia-based blues band, Less Traveled, with himself as the frontman and lead songwriter. The band found success with their self-produced album Nobody, which developed their following and led to multiple touring opportunities. After sharing the stage with acts such as Agents of Good Roots, Merl Saunders (Jerry Garcia Band), and Tim Reynolds (Dave Matthews Band and TR3), Timbers began to gain recognition as a songwriter and landed an endorsement with Canadian manufacturing company Godin Guitars.

After many years with Less Traveled, Timbers decided to strike out on his own and move to New York City. While in “the City That Never Sleeps”, Timbers continued to work on his unique style and technique while becoming a standout favorite in the Brooklyn music scene.

After a run into legal troubles, Timbers had to halt his accelerating career and spend some years away in a federal detention facility. This time allowed him to realize his need for self-reinvention, focusing on the positive in life while using his past to propel him forward.

Timbers returned to Virginia with a renewed sense of purpose and direction. After reconnecting with bass player Mike Echols, whom Timbers credits for a huge part of his newfound success, the singer/songwriter decided to form the Chris Timbers Band.

Together with Echols on bass and vocals, drummer Paul Dudley, saxophonist Eli Gonzalez, and lead guitarist Peter Thomas, Chris Timbers Band represents a style of music that’s a combination of country, contemporary jazz, blues, rock and “alternative soul.” Together they continue to revamp old songs while writing and recording new ones.

Timbers’s first solo album, Keep Moving, is a journey through his heart and soul. From the title track that speaks of reconnecting with old friends after being away, to songs like “War” which provide insight into his views on politics and the current state of the world, the album showcases Timbers’s diverse writing styles. His fans will hear rock undertones combined with a delicate mixture of R&B, country, and jazz and blues influences…and they’ll be glad to hear from him again.

Born from the rich culture of the Colorado mountains, The Runaway Grooms are bringing a refreshing take on contemporary jam band music. With pocket grooves, syncopated rhythms, and expansive tones, the band captures elements of funk and psychedelic rock while simultaneously celebrating traditional songwriting roots of Americana music. Dueling guitar solos, 3-part harmonies, and a screaming lap steel guitar, combine to create a unique soundscape that takes listeners through an experiential musical journey.

The Colorado based band formed when frontman, Adam Tobin, met guitarist, Zac Cialek, at employee housing for a ski resort. The two were joined by drummer and long time friend, Justin Bissett, shortly after and formed the original lineup of the band. Bassist/vocalist, Zach Gilliam, and keyboardist, Cody Scott, joined the band in November 2019. The addition of the new members helped catalyse the evolution of the band’s sound.

The band released their debut album ‘Tied to the Sun’ in March 2020 , The release was immediately followed by the global Coronavirus pandemic during which the band continued to develop and write music together. The newly written music contributed to the Groom’s sophomore album, Violet Lane, set to be released October 2021.
