Born from the rich culture of the Colorado mountains, The Runaway Grooms are bringing a refreshing take on contemporary jam band music. With pocket grooves, syncopated rhythms, and expansive tones, the band captures elements of funk and psychedelic rock while simultaneously celebrating traditional songwriting roots of Americana music. Dueling guitar solos, 3-part harmonies, and a screaming lap steel guitar, combine to create a unique soundscape that takes listeners through an experiential musical journey.

The Colorado based band formed when frontman, Adam Tobin, met guitarist, Zac Cialek, at employee housing for a ski resort. The two were joined by drummer and long time friend, Justin Bissett, shortly after and formed the original lineup of the band. Bassist/vocalist, Zach Gilliam, and keyboardist, Cody Scott, joined the band in November 2019. The addition of the new members helped catalyse the evolution of the band’s sound.

The band released their debut album ‘Tied to the Sun’ in March 2020 , The release was immediately followed by the global Coronavirus pandemic during which the band continued to develop and write music together. The newly written music contributed to the Groom’s sophomore album, Violet Lane, set to be released October 2021.

Moonshine Society is the offspring of three promising young music scholars who came together at Boston’s renown Berklee College of Music. Of like minds and musical passions, they united in 2009 to create their own brand of soulful blues, roots rock and old-school R&B- if a fundamental definition is actually required. In truth, they teamed to craft their own formula of music that speaks to the soul and defies the labels of traditional musical confines. The trio sealed their pact one moonlit night in the Anacostia Delta, where then and there, their name became written in the stars. They were to be Moonshine Society. Little did they know on that fateful night that they were buckled in on a launching pad set to rocket them at dizzying speed to performance destinations of their wildest dreams throughout the US and the world. In retrospect, though, it’s little wonder considering the band’s composition of killer talent, now four-plus strong. Leading the troupe is impassioned, soulful singer and songwriter Jenny Langer, who has shared the stage with such musical greats as Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks and Jack Pearson of Allman Brothers fame, Susan Tedeschi of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gov’t Mule and Jimmy Vivino from Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Part vamp and part glamour girl, she is all-commanding in her on-stage deliveries and becomes pure sorceress spellbinding audiences with her searing hot vocals. To quote from her sizzling seductive rendition of “Fever” -what a lovely way to burn.  Others agree.  In 2012, three members were inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame for their work with legendary harmonica player Charlie Sayles. They have opened for artists included Johnny Winter, George Clinton and Funkadelic, Tower of Power, Sister Sparrow, Junior Marvin & The Wailers, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, The Family Stone, Roomful of Blues, The Nighthawks, Mud Morganfield, WuTang Clan, Tab Benoit, Indigenous, Samantha Fish and more. Members have also performed and recorded with John Mayer, Warren Haynes, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Danny Gatton, Brian Eno, Jason Ricci and more.  Locally in Washington, DC, the band and album have received Wammie awards for Best Blues Band and Best Blues Album and have repeatedly been named in Top Fan Favorite Lists in Washington, DC and Virginia.  See for yourself why this band is making waves in the international blues scene thrilling audiences at festivals with a fresh take on the classic American roots style.

Eli Cook  was born at the foot of the mountains of Virginia, and with no TV growing up he spent Saturday nights around the radio with local shows and Prairie Home Companion. He picked up the guitar at age 13 after watching his older brother play and began to teach himself. Within two years he was playing solo acoustic guitar for gospel revivals and electric blues in a power trio in local “juke joints.”

A student of several musical tastes, Cook took what he heard on the record player and radio melding it into his own which makes him stand out. At 18 with a bone-shaking growl and bonafide blues guitar chops, he was received by fans and critics as a torch bearer for a slew of historical players, from Son House to Leadbelly to today’s modern players, like Chris Smither and Rory Block.

As the country sounds of Appalachia crept in Eli didn’t flinch:  “It didn’t seem unnatural. It’s what was around me, and I just tried to pick up on everything and everybody, including Doc Watson and Chet Atkins. In fact, hearing Chet fingerpick made me realize I didn’t need a band.”

No slavish dilettante or rusty, dusty blues purist, Cook has internalized his influences, including the rock of Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine, stirring them into a musical cauldron of authentic, timeless music emanating from deep in his soul.

Eli’s debut, Moonshine Mojo, in 2004 contained mostly choice classic blues covers. In 2007 both the scalding, blues-rocking Electricholyfirewater and the all-original acoustic Miss Blues’es Child made their appearance. Following were Static in the Blood (2009), an outside-the-box studio production mixing R&B and rock, Ace, Jack & King (2011), a grunge blues blast, and the all-original, explosive trio recording Primitive Son (2014) with star-studded cameos. He has toured to national acclaim, holding his own in the company of blues royalty B.B. King, Johnny Winter, Shemekia Copeland and Gary Clark, Jr. In 2015 he was voted #3 on the prestigious UK Blues Matters Writer’s Poll for Favorite International Blues Solo Artist.

Jonathan Sloane is a multi-talented, lifelong musician, instructor, guitarist and lyricist based in Rockville, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC.  His compositions, tone and lyrical lead guitar playing are deeply rooted in the blues; expanding into R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, funk and soul.

Having played to sold out crowds at both the local and national level with different bands, Sloane is a sought after talent in the Baltimore and Washington, DC music scenes.

He toured and made records with Baltimore native Cris Jacobs from 2016-2020 and now continues to tour with New Orleans singer/songwriter Anders Osborne.

Jonathan writes/arranges and performes with several other projects, each offering a unique outlet for his eclectic influences to shine.

Yellow Dubmarine (http://www.yellowdubmarine.com) is a tribute band that reimagines the beloved Beatles catalogue through syncopation and soul of early rock-steady, dub and roots-rock reggae.  In addition to working out song arrangements, Jonathan contributes vocals and rhythm and lead guitar.  Known for their live performances, in 2011, the band released the well-received studio album, Abbey Dub.  The band has performed across the country, with gigs at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC; Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado; The Mint in L.A.; and The House of Blues in both Houston and New Orleans.

On September 14, 2018, Sloane released his solo record “Alive and Well” which truly showcases a plethora of influences morphed into an original sound.

Maggie RoseThe third album from Maggie Rose, Have A Seat is the work of a phenomenally gifted artist showing the full extent of her power. Erin & The Wildfire started as four college kids in Charlottesville, Virginia making music just for fun, but has grown into a flourishing, decade-long musical relationship among four best friends. E&TW, who now call Virginia’s capital city of Richmond home, have evolved their sound over the past ten years to where it currently stands firmly in the soul and indie-pop genres, drawing influences from a wide range of artists including Emily King, D’Angelo, YEBBA, Vulfpeck, and Donny Hathaway.

The band blends the expressive, powerhouse vocals of frontwoman, Erin Lunsford, with the pop, funk, and indie sensibilities of bandmates Ryan Lipps (guitar), Nick Quillen (drums), and Matt Wood (bass). In addition to the core four, E&TW has recently found a kindred musical soul in keyboardist Stephen Roach, who has played with the band since 2019.
