The Ken Demith Collection was established in 2006 when Ken left the popular DFW zydebilly band the Comelongs. Leveraging connections made at venues and among many talented musicians in DFW, Ken invited Sean McWilliams of Pickle and Jeff Gruber of Sunday Drive to join him for shows.  Ken invited different players when Sean and Jeff weren’t available and the idea of a “collection” of supporting band members was born.  Sean and Jeff continued to be part of the collection for recording when Ken moved to Maryland in 2013.

Not knowing the music scene in the Maryland, Ken made the decision to focus mostly on recording.  He began the production of the Boom A Rang album. As the record was nearing completion, Ken began searching for the right players to join the KDC.  Ken first found Peter Franklin playing on drums several tracks on the Boom A Rang album.  Later adding bassist Bruce Lipson and keyboardist Dave Fenstermacher for live performances.

It might seem surprising that this boy from the great white north would be drawn to the deep southern, swampy blues of the Allman Brothers. Vocalist Doug Hartnetts love for the band dates back to 1970s shows at Met Stadium in Bloomington, MN. Years later, after singing Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, Van Morrison and others in clubs throughout the DC area with the Oxymorons, hes ready to dive into the deep, dark waters of the Allman Brothers brand of blues.Dave Reuben was captivated by the power of the first five notes hed heard on the Allman Brothers version of Statesboro Blues, and hes been hooked ever since. He saw his first ABB show at Madison Square Garden and remembers the power the band had. He says that first experience was surreal because when the Allman Brothers are dialed in, its like a force of nature.
