About This Event

M4TR - Music 4 The Revolution

Music 4 The Revolution - brings you rebellious dance music from the Retrofuture - what tomorrow sounds like from the past. They hail from an alternative present where new wave, synthpop, disco, punk, funk, soul, reggae, ska and rap live on eternally. Touring throughout the multiverse to bring musical utopia to those in social dystopia, M4TR plays happy-sad songs about evolution, revolution, devolution, Armageddon, activism, narcissism, madness, technology, trolls, billionaires, monkeys, fish, mermaids, nature, earth, futbol, ghosts, stalkers, trains, death and, above all, love.

Free Lobster Buffet was formed in Washington, DC’s Capitol Hill neighborhood in 2004.  Since then the band has performed up and down the east coast from Virginia to New York City.  The Buffet’s influences extend from traditional first-wave ska legends like The Skatalites and Dandy Livingston to modern geniuses like The Pietasters, Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish.  Blending catchy originals and creative cover songs, the Buffet has a well-earned reputation for high-energy, very loud ska shows and one of the best horn sections in music.

Shelley Star is an interplanetarily renowned performer. With fellow artists of her home Planet Glam in tow, she uses her multidisciplinary talents of song, dance, and theatrics to explore a brand new musical universe. With influences like Lady Gaga, The Killers, and ABBA, Shelley and her band The Galaxy blend the future and past of great music to be experienced in the present timeline.

Since the projects’ inception in October 2022, the band has sent shockwaves throughout the DMV with their out-of-this-world live performances and hot new recordings. Heavily influenced by the art of drag, the band paid tribute to their roots in June 2023 at the first Fairfax Pride celebration at Old Town Hall, presented by local showcase The Palace. In July 2023, they competed in Band Battle #25 at Jammin’ Java and won their preliminary round, going on to earn second place at the finals. Over the past year and a half, the band has released two Wammie Award-nominated singles, leading up to their debut album “Shelley Star and The Galaxy”, released to high acclaim the same day as their first headlining show at Jammin’ Java in February 2024.
